Paper titled “System level modeling of DVB-S2X in High Throughput Satellite System” by Lauri Sormunen, Jani Puttonen and Janne Kurjenniemi will be presented in the joint satellite systems conference The 24th Ka and Broadband Communications Conference and the 36th International Communications Satellite Systems Conference (ICSSC) taking place in Niagara Falls, Canada on October 15th through 18th. The paper presents a simulative model of DVB-S2X developed for Satellite Network Simulator 3 (SNS3,, and system level performance analysis compared with previous standard, DVB-S2. Lauri Sormunen will attend the conference and present the paper in ICSSC.

DVB-S2X is a satellite digital broadcasting standard intended to extend the old DVB-S2, which is utilized by e.g. many satellite TV receivers. The newer standard offers more efficient transmissions enabling higher bit-rates, while also providing means of passing frames in severe link conditions. The physical layer changes in the standard further support other new potential technologies, such as beam hopping.
